Editorial Policy
Money decisions can have a real impact on people’s lives, so we follow these principles for everything we publish.
Accuracy
For laws, taxes and official statistics we rely first on primary sources such as government agencies, central banks and regulators. Where rates and limits change often, we explain them with illustrative examples and point readers to the official source.
Independence
We don’t accept payment to promote any bank, broker or product. When we describe a strategy, we explain its risks and limitations as well as its benefits.
Clarity
We define technical terms the first time we use them and illustrate concepts with numerical examples. Figures in examples are hypothetical and are meant to show how a calculation works.
Freshness
We review articles regularly and update the “Updated” date when we make meaningful changes.
Advertising
Ads on this site are served automatically by Google and are clearly separated from editorial content. An ad appearing does not mean we endorse the product.
