Frequently Asked Questions

How do I remove VAT from a price?

Net price = Gross price ÷ (1 + VAT rate). At 20%, a $120 gross price has a net price of $100 and $20 of VAT.

Is VAT the same as sales tax?

Both are consumption taxes. VAT is collected at each stage of production and usually included in shelf prices; US sales tax is collected at the final sale and added at checkout.
